Results from the 2003-2004 National Health and Nutrition
Examination Survey (NHANES), using measured heights
and weights, indicate that an estimated 66 percent of U.S. adults are either overweight or obese. Although historically the church has taught much against adultery, fornication, drug use, and other “obvious sins” it has been lacking in its communication on the issue of over eating in the body of Christ. We are raising awareness in the church that it is our responsibility to provide the information for our members and community to live better and more productive, healthy lives.
Many Christians attend church regularly, pay their tithes, worship God daily, and try to live a life pleasing to Him. However, many are failing in the area of managing their bodies, the temple of the Holy Ghost. One of the enemies’ biggest weapons is his influence through what and how much we eat. The foods we consume are killing or drastically limiting us with health issues including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and loss of energy. Join us in a war against the enemy and our flesh.
We are fighting this war by participating in buddy workout groups for the purposes of accountability, connect-ability and strength. Iron sharpens iron. We meet on a regular basis to share information and resources on health and health related topics including proper dieting, fasting, menus, cooking, eating-out, stress reduction and free health and information sessions.
III John 2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers."
